Death Could Not Hold Him

On the first Sunday Jesus appears first to Mary Magdalene, then to a small group of women, and then to a pair of disciples on the road to Emmaus. Jesus instructs each of them to go back and tell the Apostles about their encounter. And yet, when Jesus appears in their midst later that evening he says, “why do doubts arise in your hearts?” Let us consider how Jesus is tenderly building transformative faith in the lives of the Apostles in this time.
